Testing, testing: one, two, three!

Ahem, ahem, is this thing on?

Welcome to my blog.  I've always loved writing (and talking, but that's a story for another time), and I've been feeling like I have a lot to say of late so I thought I'd give this blogging thing a go.

To start off, as with all good conversations, I feel as though I should introduce myself.

My name is Rebecca - though, as with all Australians, I have about fifty nicknames which I answer to as well.  In fact, I may well break the blog before it even starts if I were to try to list them!  Rebecca is my 'professional' persona, the one who has a very distinct 'phone voice' and keeps her cool even in the most stressful situations.  I'm grateful for her presence in my life because I swear she keeps her cool, even when I can't!  I am on the downhill run to thirty, and once I hit that 'magic number' I'll also hit another milestone - having lived with the insidious disease that is Rheumatoid Arthritis for a decade.

I'm not a circus act by any means, but I'm quite a juggler.  I juggle working up to 70 hours a week, part-time study, life and all that comes with it - but don't for a moment think I could cope being anything less than insanely busy.  My juggling is not always completely successful, and sometimes something slips momentarily - but I scoop it all back up and get everything suspended in mid-air again whenever I have dropped something! I also walk the tightrope - while I'm a patient, I also work in health care so I feel as though I get to experience everything health-related from a somewhat unique perspective.

So that's me.  I don't claim to have it all together - and I certainly don't claim to have it all! - but it's a whole lot of fun to try.  I hope that I can share some thoughts, discoveries and motivation along the way... and look forward to defying gravity - and my diagnosis - one day at a time!
